Looking back at the 2007 Reunion

This is an excerpt from the recently mailed Little Family newsletter.

Looking back

Though it seems longer, it was a little over a year ago that we all gathered at Zephyr Point on Lake Tahoe in Nevada, and shared another unforgettable Little Family Reunion. Every reunion has distinctive qualities that set it apart from other reunions. Here were just a few memorable moments that came to mind for me.

JUST IN TIME: Most of us arrived at Zephyr Point followed by the smoke. The forest fire that devastated the area only minimally impacted our fun. But it became an opportunity for our family to bless others when we gifted auction money to a local resident who was greatly impacted by the fire.

BEACH BABIES: I loved watching families brave the cold waters of Lake Tahoe from the pebbly shore. I do believe Terry Allison was one of the bravest! It was so fun to sit in the sun and get caught up with other families, while our kids splashed in the water and dug holes in the sand.

AND THE EMMY GOES TO……. Talent night at the family reunions is always one of my favorite memories. I think sharing our gifts and sharing some laughs, is an important tradition. My kids were too young to appreciate the original Muppets show, but they talked about Janine’s live version for a very long time after the reunion. I still hear them humming “mahna mahna” from time to time.

Every reunion is a little different, yet the spirit of our family remains in the memories, the stories, and the shared heritage. Along with the great memories from each reunion, I always come away with a sense of belonging and closeness that only comes from an extended family like ours. Being part of this great legacy is a gift we give ourselves and to our children. I am proud to be a Little! ~submitted by Libby Simmons
